*Title: The Boy from the Workshop* My name is *Alaaeddine*, but everyone calls me "Alaa". I’m from a working-class neighborhood in Oran. Our house was small, and life was tight. My dad worked in a construction workshop, and we lived on a limited budget. Since I was young, I heard one sentence all the time: "Son, study so you don’t end up like your father." My dad would say it while wiping sweat from his forehead. He meant it from his heart, but his words used to hurt. *The struggle started early* I’d study in the morning, and in the afternoon I’d help my dad. I’d carry bricks, mix cement, and my hands were always full of cracks. My friends played football, while I wore torn gloves. I failed the Baccalaureate twice. Everyone told me "Just take a trade and be done with it." Even a teacher told me in front of the class: "Alaa, ambition is good, but you need to know your limits." I smiled in his face while my heart was breaking. I said to myself: "I have to live up to my name, or I’ll die trying." *Courage came the day I decided to take a risk* I did a computer science training course with money I saved from summer work. I bought a used PC, the screen was scratched, but to me it was my whole world. I started freelancing from home. I built websites for people for just 2000 dinars. I’d stay up working until dawn, my eyes red. I lost projects, had fights with clients, cried alone many nights. People laughed at me: "Sitting at the PC and saying you work? Go help your dad instead." *The small dream* I had one dream in my heart: to buy a *TMAX* motorcycle. I’d see it on the road and tell myself "One day I’ll ride it with my own money." Everyone said "Why Alaa? That bike is for rich people." But I saw it as my dream. *Success came after years of struggle* For 3 years I kept hitting a wall.
